Impossible Pictures has finished filming the fourth series of ITV’s scaly sci-fi drama Primeval…Almost exactly a year since ITV announced the cancellation of Primeval due to unaffordable production costs, it's just been announced that the revived science fiction drama has finished its four-month shoot in Dublin. Reportedly a seven-part series due to air early next year, Primeval series four sees its regular actors, which includes Andrew-Lee Potts, Ben Miller and Hannah Spearritt, return to their roles as members of a research team investigating space-time anomalies filled with all manner of critters and monsters from both past and future. The original seasons of Primeval were well received by viewers and many critics, with Charlie Brooker giving it an unusually bile-free review on his show Screenwipe. Though not as high as those of its BBC rival Doctor Who, Primeval's viewing figures were also buoyant, with audience numbers for season three averaging at a healthy 4.99 million. A co-production between ITV, German television company ProSieben and the BBC, we're told that work is also shortly set to begin on series five, which will continue until November. More news on the new series of Primeval as we get it.
