So judging by the comments I’ve seen a lot of people are just blown away by this trailer for Christopher Nolan’s movie Interstellar. Me… not so much. While I enjoy a number of Nolan’s movies, I don’t really get the worship of him that I see in a lot of places. His movies tend to be clever and ambitious but are also frequently flawed.
The description for Interstellar certainly sounds interesting:
Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
But this trailer has far too much blatant emotional manipulation for my tastes. It didn’t make me care about the man or his family, mainly it just irritated me because it went on… and on… and on.
Good cast, some really good special effects, good concept. It may turn out to be a good movie, but I don’t like the trailer.
