Star Wars Rumors Star Wars Episode VII Filming Begins May 2014

It’s been a while since I posted anything really solid about Star Wars: Episode VII. There have been plenty of rumors, but they’ve just been… incredibly rumory. Now though we have something that qualifies as fact.

Star Wars Episode VII – Sexagenarians Strike Back will begin filming at Pinewood Studios in London in May 2014. So say StarWars.com… who ought to know. Interestingly they go on to say:

It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. No further details on casting or plot are available at this time.

Which puts a rather different emphasis on things to the way the rumors have been going lately. And one I’m happier with. Having Luke, Han and Leia in significant but relatively smaller roles is how it should be. Setting things 30 years later avoids them having to pretend that a trio of old actors are somehow much younger than they look.
